Orchard Valley Coffee — July 24, 2009

At the start of the summer, I set a personal goal of six performances (coffee house gigs, shows, etc.), and tonight is the sixth. I hope to set up other shows, and Rock on the Mount is Aug. 22 (I’m the opening act), but it was quite a satisfying six-show run. Tonight I played the following:

1. Dirty Old Mug

2. Scarborough Fair (arrangement)
3. I Was Writing This in the Cafe
4. Fortress
5. I For You
6. Old Man Jack — first performance
7. We Never Said Goodbye
8. A. Lincoln — first full performance
9. Highways Heading Home
10. I’ll Press On
11. I Need You
12. T.S. Eliot’s “The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock” (arrangement)
13. When We Were Young
14. Scarborough Fair (snip), and speech on folk music
15. Amazing Grace (arrangement)

I drank a bit of hot chocolate before singing “When We Were Young,” choked on it, and butchered the song. Oh, well.
